Assomela, which represents 58% of the organic apple production in Italy and about 17% of the entire European organic apple production, has been selected by the European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) as an expert member of the Organic Food Chains thematic table.
The table, promoted by the EU Commission in the context of the Farm to Fork strategy and the EU Organic Action Plan, aims to explore the current approaches to cooperation in the organic value chain and identification of potential areas of intervention that can support collective actions and share good practices that show success factors that strengthen the role of organic farmers in the value chain.
On behalf of Assomela, Gerhard Eberhöfer, Organic Manager of VIP Val Venosta, joins the table.
“The new thematic group will help to broaden and strengthen the partnerships at European level, but also to promote training and sharing of skills in order to support producers during the sustainable transition towards EU goals and to ensure the necessary balance between supply and demand in the market”, Eberhöfer commented.
