From the 13th to the 16th of February 2024, a total of 2,550 international exhibitors from 94 countries presented their extensive product range at BIOFACH, the World’s Leading Fair for Organic Food, with 150 of them at VIVANESS, the International Trade Fair for Natural and Organic Personal Care. In Nuremberg, participants along the entire value chain experienced the organic community in action. The latest burning issues affecting the sector were discussed in the exhibition halls and two congresses.

The BIOFACH Congress focused on the topic “Food for the Future: Women’s Impact on Sustainable Food Systems.” The supporting program and exhibition floors showcased trends and innovations, including two sector trends, “Holistic.Climate.Regeneration” and “Personal and Planetary Health,” as well as four product trends: “Sweet Soulfood,” “Transparency,” “Mushroom Mania,” and “Clear-Headed Joy.” VIVANESS highlighted sector trends “Lifestyle & Identity” and “Be Community,” along with product trends “Fresh Around The Clock,” “Sensory Beauty,” and “Empower Your Beauty.”

Petra Wolf, Member of the Executive Board, NürnbergMesse, emphasized the importance of coming together and initiating dialogue, especially in turbulent times. The diverse forums and extended supporting program provided ample capacity to explore trends, challenges, and shining lights in the sector, along with best practice examples.

The BIOFACH Trends 2024, from “Holistic. Climate.Regeneration” to “Clear-Headed Joy,” revealed a clear tendency to reshape the food system in favor of the planet. The VIVANESS Trends 2024, from “Lifestyle & Identity” to “Empower Your Beauty,” covered a broad range of current developments in the natural and organic cosmetic cosmos.

The extended BIOFACH supporting program in 2024 included the new HoReCa – GV & Gastro forum, addressing the German Federal Ministry’s target of 30% organic food in public kitchens by 2030. The SustainableFutureLab, a new open and collaborative series of events, discussed controversial topical issues and worked towards solutions for a transition to more organic food.

The BIOFACH and VIVANESS Congress featured almost 200 high-caliber sessions, focusing on paving the path for a sustainable future. The STADTLANDBIO Forum, part of the BIOFACH Congress, provided deeper insights into organic out-of-home catering. The congress theme, “Food for the Future: Women’s Impact on Sustainable Food Systems,” spotlighted the transformative creative power of women in the food sector.

NürnbergMesse’s proven expertise in the field of organic food was evident in BIOFACH, the world’s leading fair for organic food products. The international organic sector gathered in Nuremberg every February, with BIOFACH World having a global presence through events in China, India, Japan, South America, Thailand, the USA, and Saudi Arabia. The annual gathering brought together around 4,500 exhibitors and more than 150,000 trade visitors.
