Valencia fourth region in Spanish organic agriculture

Over the past five years, organic farming in Valencia has grown by 81.2%. This percentage of growth is the highest of all Spain, and has even surpassed the Spanish average, which is currently 20.7%. The region has seen a huge increase in organic cultivation, thanks to the launch of an ecological production plan of 78.76 million euros implemented in order to promote this cultivation method, provide certifications and support producers in the phase of transition.
The report on organic production of the Ministry of Agriculture shows that the number of organic farmers grew by 46.1%, while in the rest of the country it grew by only 25.9%. Valencia had a turnover of 626 million euros, which is 19.6% of the total of 3.1 billion euros for the whole country.
Valencia has a total area cultivated according to organic farming methods of 146,757 hectares, the fourth largest in Spain after Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia.
Spain is confirmed as the Country with the highest percentage of organic agricultural area in the EU and the third in the world after Australia and Argentina.
