From 11 to 14 February 2025, international players will gather in Nuremberg, Germany, to explore the future of the organic food industry. BIOFACH, hosted at the NürnbergMesse exhibition centre, will focus on key topics in the organic sector, particularly retail and catering.

Sustainability in out-of-home catering organic products are still underused in out-of-home catering (OOH) due to issues like limited availability, high costs, and logistical challenges. Yet, this sector holds significant potential for promoting sustainable food practices that benefit both health and the environment. Dr. Marisa Hübner stresses the need for a holistic transformation that merges sustainability, taste, and profitability, especially in places like schools, hospitals, and company canteens.

Although hurdles like unreliable supply chains and rising costs persist, solutions exist.

Creative menu designs and plant-based alternatives can cut costs while enhancing quality. Practical support, training, and success stories can inspire change. BIOFACH 2025 will delve into these challenges and present practical solutions in its ‘Out-of-Home Catering’ section, featuring best practices and live demonstrations.

Organic food in retail The competition among specialist shops, retailers, and discounters continues to shape the market.

To address this, BIOFACH 2025 will introduce innovative concepts and interactive formats like the SustainableFutureLab. Highlights for retailers will include guided tours and forums, offering insights into emerging trends and solutions.
