The Italian organic brand, announced at SANA in Bologna in September 2023, “has reached its goal and will be presented in July with a major event“. This was announced to GreenPlanet by the Undersecretary of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, with a delegation for organic farming, Luigi D’Eramo.
“Yes, we are at the finish line,” D’Eramo emphasizes. “We will hold a bio meeting before Easter; the idea I have in mind, and which I have shared and continue to share with the entire organic sector, is to do a national launch in July, coinciding with the annual ‘Appointment with Bio’ and the presentation of the ‘Bio in Numbers’ report. A major event that will invite not only the organic sector but the entire agricultural world, including production entities and institutions from our country—basically, a big national celebration!”
“The evaluation committee for the brand has completed its task, which was very demanding because 350 proposals were submitted. The process is now at its final stage; we just need to organize this big national event. This event must involve the whole country, as it is highly anticipated by the sector. It is a certification that will further empower our organic businesses, so it must be a strong launch that conveys the authentic value of Italian organic quality.”
Regarding certification, when asked about the acquisition of Suolo e Salute by Cotecna, a Swiss company controlled by a French entity (see news), D'Eramo commented, "The government, through the Cabinet meeting, has essentially set some boundaries; it's an important stance that shows the attention we are placing on this sector, and I believe that, therefore, we have done what we needed to do.
