“Organic wine represents an opportunity for Italian viticulture on the markets, which are increasingly attentive to sustainability, especially in a more general context of strong growth in exports of organic products made in Italy.
Organic viticulture takes care of soil fertility, biodiversity and does not use synthetic chemical substances, and therefore plays a central role in the ecological transition process towards an always more sustainable agriculture.
These values, together with the territorial identity of the denominations of origin, can contribute to further strengthening the Italian wine-growing sector also through specific promotion and communication initiatives”.
These were the words of the president of FederBio, the Italian Federation of the Organic Sector, Maria Grazia Mammuccini, during a meeting with Lamberto Frescobaldi, president of Unione Italiana Vini (UIV).
With the collaboration of Federbio, UIV is working on the creation of UIVbio, a specific Federation connected to certified organic companies in the Italian wine sector. This will be an important step to increase awareness of Italian organic wines in the world.
